Genelia D'Souza is an Indian actress who has acted over a dozen films in various regions in Indian Cinema. She was born in Mangalore, India.
After schooling in Mumbai Genelia starred in the big budget Boys directed by Shankar. Her character was named HARINI in that film and the director wanted her to take the name. But, she remained as Genelia in further movies though she was titled as Harini in Boys movie.
She left Bollywood for a while to concentrate on the Tollywood industry, starring in other successful films including, Satyam, Samba and Sye. She followed it up with a pairing with actor Venkatesh in Subhash Chandra Bose.
She returned to the Tamil industry with Sachein with Vijay. It bombed at the box Office. Her film, Happy opposite Allu Arjun was a hit. Her most recent film, Bommarillu, with Siddharth Narayan, is a super hit.
Bommarilu was remade in tamil as Santhosh Subramaniam and has Genelia in same role of female lead. It's doing moderate in box office. Genelia's acting ability is showing up in her recent movies, she has good balance with acting and glamour.
